Sleep: 5 tips to maximize sleep and to rest well during the holidays

Every year during the holidays, we make the promise to rest so that we can return to work refreshed. However, it often happens that we have the impression of not having really recovered or not feeling rested after the holidays. This year for the seasonal holidays, how about trying to do things a little differently? Here are our five tips to enjoy the holidays while sleeping and resting well.

Sleep: 5 tips to maximize sleep and to rest well during the holidays

1- Get up at the same time and take naps

Holidays mean activity! It is totally normal to sleep-in later on vacation since our agenda later in the day can often be full. It is advisable however, to get up at the same time as usual in order to fully respect your biological clock. To ease the shorter nights if you go to bed late, we recommend to indulge in a nap of 30 minutes between 1 and 3pm.

2- Fill-up on vitamin D at a sunny destination

As much as possible get your refill of vitamin D, which is important for immunity, by sitting in sun. In Summer spend time outside practicing your favourite outdoor activities. You can also simply relax with a good book or eat outside with the family. In Winter, and if you can afford it, choose a sunny destination for your holidays.

The important thing is to enjoy sun to the fullest!

3- Take a techno break

We know that this can be a big challenge, but you should take a break from your electronic devices! There is nothing more relaxing than to live in the moment for a few hours and forget that technology is everywhere in our lives. So, are you ready for the challenge and to fully enjoy your break?

4- Make time for moments of rest

In the same way you plan your vacation activities, you also need to plan time to rest! Set time in your schedule to watch a good movie or snuggle up in your pyjamas with nothing to do … and without guilt!

5- Change your routine

Changing your daily routine, especially if you’re not travelling for your holidays, will make you really feel like you’re on vacation. Just let go! Put your normal routine on hold and do not be afraid to do things differently. 1, 2, 3, go!

On vacation, have fun and give yourself permission to make taking care of yourself be a priority. Live in the moment and leave work at the office. This is the best way to come back relaxed and strong … and be happy! Happy holidays!
